Boards and Commissions

Would you like to become a member of a state board or commission?

Boards and commissions are responsible for advising the Governor and Lt. Governor, the legislature and state agencies. The Governor and Lt. Governor are looking for qualified applicants who are strong believers in becoming an active voice in state government.

Governor Culver and Lt. Governor Judge appoint members to more than 160 boards and commissions as openings become available. If you are interested in becoming a member of a board or commission, please download the Gubernatorial Appointments Application. If you are interested, please look at what boards and commissions the Governor will make appointments to in March 2010.

After completing the form, please return it to the Office of the Governor for consideration by the Governor and Lt. Governor.

Thank you for your interest in serving the Governor and Lt. Governor in this important capacity!

State law requires most boards and commissions be balanced according to gender and political affiliation. Geographical location and diversity is also considered. Appointments are made to most boards and commissions annually. All applications are kept on file as public information.
